80 hypodermic needles found on Windham walking path

The Windham Police Department said in a Facebook post Tuesday that roughly 80 capped and uncapped hypodermic syringes, along with other drug paraphernalia, were found on a walking path. An officer told WMTW the needles were located on a trail in North Windham near Manchester Drive. The department says officers and firefighters collected and safely disposed of the needles. “It’s just something no one wants to see along a walking path. But like the drug habit all around us these too appear from time to time, usually one or two left in a parking lot or along the side of the road. This morning the police and fire departments collected 80 capped and uncapped hypodermic syringes along with other paraphernalia from a walking path in town. All of the collected items were properly disposed of as biohazards,” the department said in the post on Facebook. Windham police say if you come across discarded syringes, call police so they can throw them away appropriately.
