Donald Trump Jr. campaigns in Maine’s 2nd District

Donald Trump Jr. returned to Maine Thursday, less than a week before Election Day.The president’s son appeared at an outdoor rally outside an Orrington church. This is his second visit to Maine in a little more than a month. The event was moved from a business in Holden to Orrington after the owners of the business said the state threatened action if they did not follow coronavirus safety guidelines. Speaking for roughly 30 minutes, Trump Jr. talked about Hunter Biden, the second amendment, his father’s record in the Middle East and called Joe Biden “camouflage for the radical left.””You’re not moderate Joe.” Trump Jr. said. “If Kamala Harris is your V.P. that’s not moderate. You’re not moderate with Beto (O’Rourke, former Democratic Presidential Candidate) as your gun czar, you’re not a moderate adopting Bernie Sanders’s platform.” The campaign stop was moved to Calvary Chapel at the last-minute, after the business that was supposed to host the event canceled after a letter from Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Jeanne Lambrew.Calvary Chapel made headlines earlier this year after suing Gov. Janet Mills for her stay-at-home order, arguing it violated the First Amendment’s protection of religious freedom. For the president’s supporters, it meant a lot to have another visit from the campaign.”You would think little Maine,” said Bobbi Nichols, a Trump supporter from Palermo. “You know nobody comes to Maine and rural towns. This is still rural Orrington, so I think it’s really great because he cares about the people.”
