MAINE GAME WARDENS SAY KENNETH HAM OF HOLLIS WAS IN THE CANOE WITH HIS 8- YEAR-OLD SON AND A FRIEND THIS AFTERNOON. THEY WERE MORE THAN 100 YARDS FROM SHORE WHEN HAM TURNED AROUND TO ADJUST HIS SON’S LIFE JACKET WHEN THE CANOE FLIPPED. RESCUERS FOUND THE SON AND THE FRIEND BY THE CANOE. A fisherman is presumed drowned after a canoe capsized in Sanford Monday afternoon.Maine Game Wardens say Kenneth Ham of Hollis was in a canoe with his 8-year-old son and a friend on Estes Lake. Officials say Ham was in the bow of the canoe and turned around to adjust his son’s life jacket when the canoe flipped over about 150 yards from shore.A witness called 911 from shore. First responders found the 8-year-old wearing his life-jacket. The friend was clinging to the canoe. Both had been in the water for about 35 minutes before they were rescued.The search for Ham continued until dark and will resume Tuesday morning.
