Experts with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health officials say masks with valves aren’t effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19.”Masks with valves should not be used,” said Dr. David Scrase, the secretary of the New Mexico Human Services Department. “They’re not really safe to be worn to protect others from you.”The updated guidance in August repeats previous concerns the CDC and health experts have shared about masks with exhalation valves.That’s because those masks with valves or vents are one-way, meaning they restrict the air you’re breathing in, but not the air you’re letting out.Tap the video above for more details.
