Maine historic building is finally on the move

The Cumberland Historical Society building is being moved Tuesday

After years of planning, the Cumberland Historical Society building is finally moving.The nearly 170-year-old building will be moved from its current location at 4 Blanchard Road to the Prince Memorial Library campus at 266 Main Street.Due to the height of the building, the traffic lights and utility lines where Blanchard Road, Tuttle Road, and Main Street come together in the center of town were taken down temporarily.The intersection will be closed on Tuesday, May 19 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Detours will be in place. Even residents will not be able to get through.
