Maine Marine Patrol recovers body of a man from Webhannet River

The Maine Marine Patrol recovered the body of a man on Saturday. Officials responded around 11 a.m. to a report of an unoccupied 21-foot sailboat adrift in the Webhannet River in Wells. Marine Patrol officers immediately began searching the river and were assisted by the Wells Police Department, the Wells Fire Department, Wells Ocean Rescue, the Wells Harbormaster and the U.S. Coast Guard. At this point, officials aren’t releasing the name of the victim and are notifying family members. The body was found below Mile Road at 2:30 p.m. and brought to shore in Wells Harbor. The body will undergo an autopsy at the Medical Examiner’s office.
