Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department provides option after take back events were canceled

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has a new option to help Mainers get rid of unneeded, unwanted and expired medications after drug take back events were canceled because of coronavirus.The sheriff’s office is now offering curbside drug take back at their campus at 36 County Way in Portland. The offer is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. No contact will be made between the person dropping the medications off and the employee collecting them. The office will also accept pet medications. No liquid medications or needles will be accepted.Anyone who wishes to drop medications off are asked to call 207-774-1444 ext. 2100 to make an appointment.
