Police officer pulls woman to safety from burning apartment in Portland

A Portland police officer pulled a woman to safety from a burning apartment Tuesday night.A kitchen fire was reported at the Forest Glen Apartments on Forest Avenue in Portland at about 11:15 p.m. The police officer was first to arrive on scene and pulled the woman out of a rear bedroom window.Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one apartment, but said there was significant damage to the kitchen and living room. The apartment above it also sustained smoke and heat damage. The people who live in both apartments were finding another place to live.Firefighters said one person was taken to the hospital for something unrelated to the fire or smoke.Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were on scene early Wednesday trying to determine how the fire started.
